Every time a new issue of Byte arrived, the first thing I read was Chaos Manor. RIP
Jerry is the older brother I cannot have. I say ‘is’ because I will not accept the idea that he is gone. He is just somewhere else. We met 45 years ago, and kept up a friendship over those decades. So what is different now? He is just somewhere else. God keep you, Jerry.
I grieve. I’ve known Jerry’s voice for many decades. I was hoping that he would not be silenced anytime soon. Condolences to his loved ones.
Dr. Pournelle,
Thank you sir for entertaining reads and conversations. You will be missed.
Jerry, you will be missed greatly. I hope you find the new adventure to your liking!
Jerry’s work inspired and entertained me for decades, since my childhood. I grieve.
Prayers for Jerry, and condolences and encouragement to all his family in this time.
Godspeed Jerry. You’ll be missed. And condolences to the Pournelle family.
Our hearts are broken. . .
May your family find comfort in knowing how much you were loved by so many.

This is heartbreaking. During my undergrad years in Brazil (in the late 70’s and 80’s) my dad used to smuggle BYTE magazines into the country for me. The first article I always read was Chaos Manor. I’m his fan for almost 40 years. And just last week I gave my dad (he is 97 years old) a copy of Lucifer’s Hammer, since he is a lover of science and science fiction… I told my dad “that Pournelle writer is amazing, I’m a fan, you will like this book”. It is very hard to accept the news of his passing. Sad.
We were friends for more than fifty years, a warm and close relationship despite great differences in personal style. I will miss him.

God bless and condolences to Jerry’s friends and family. I’m going to miss him greatly. He was a special human being.
I’ve been reading, and enjoying Jerry’s material for a number of years now and am saddened by his passing. Good bye old friend.
Jerry will be remembered with love, and he’s now well on his way to the places that I’ll bet he always wanted to visit if the technology ever caught up with him. May those who love him find comfort after their grieving grows lighter.
You Will be missed,godspeed
I have enjoyed his contributions to the sci-fi realm for most of my life. His insights into our current world have also benefited me greatly.
Dr. Pournelle, we are poorer for your passing.
I wish his loved ones comfort in this time of loss.
Doctor Pournelle,
Thank you for everything.
I met Jerry for the only time at the first PlanetFest in Pasadena in ’81. He was trying to get in to the Pasadena Convention center through a side door and I let him in. Then I realized who he was and he gave me that huge laugh of his and said he was surprised I recognized him. Later, when I asked for his autograph he looked at my hardback copy of “Lucifer’s Hammer” and said “You know this is a first edition, right?” I said “of course, it is” and he laughed hugely again. His inscription reads “To Frank; Thanks for being an excellent doorman!” I smile through my tears at that memory. My best to all Jerry’s family and friends.

Thank you for wonderful entertainment and wisdom. I learned a lot from you. God Bless.
To his family, my condolences and prayers.
The world is a much poorer place and we will never see his like again.
Godspeed Dr. Pournelle, You will be missed.
Sorry to hear this.
At least I had a chance to meet him once.
But it is but a part of the life we have, of which we shall all pay the final bill.
See you when I get there Dr. Pournelle.
