Seeing your brief post was a nice Christmas gift for your fans, and I expect for you as well. My father went through the same thing 20 years ago, and amazed the therapists with his iron determination. No doubt you will do the same.

May 2015 be better than 2014 was, and the cataract surgery you have been looking forward to (tongue firmly in cheek) be as uneventful and miraculous as my own.

  2. Mark Stanley says:

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery. You’ve been one of my major inspirations for years. Hope all goes well for you and yours.

I enjoy reading your writings, for reasons that go beyond my interests in their subjects.

For me, the style and approach that underpins your writing is every bit as valuable. It’s a tap into the mindset that produced mankind’s first leap into space, and may yet take us beyond. I cherish and value it, and you. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I look forward to the day when you join us again to take up the torch.

    Ad Astra!

Have been a fan of yours since the Byte days & still think Mote the best first contact novel ever written. Wishing you a full & speedy recovery. You and yours are in my prayers.

I do hope and pray for your complete recovery Dr. Pournelle. We have been following your brilliant writing for the best part of 30 Years from Yorkshire England. You are much loved and appreciated all over the world for your insight, intelligence and humour (English Spelling!).

    Get Well Soon

  8. Jefferson Kent says:

Please accept my best wishes for your fast and complete recovery.

I’ve read your books since “The Mote in God’s Eye” and “Lucifer’s Hammer”. Your Byte column was one of my favorites. I read your Chaos Manor column several times a week, and even subscribe sometimes.

One of the things you said once, almost in passing, is that “Despair is a sin”. Life is a process of constant struggle. Keep up the good work, and the good fight. It ain’t over til its over. Live to fight another day and all will, finally, be well.

  9. Tom Novotny says:

    Dr. Pournelle,

Simply this: Get Well Soon! My prayers are with you.

Although we have never met personally, I feel I can come to your blog of “Chaos” and listen to an old trusted friend.

I am looking forward to many many more posts in the years to come.

    Jerry,

Good to see you are back with a posting.

Now might be a good time to try voice recognition.

I just created the line above with my iPad’s voice recognition. No errors or corrections were required.

Looking forward to the completion and release of “Lucifer’s Anvil” or whatever the final title will be.
