Dr. Pournelle asked to have this posted:
Monday Dec. 25, I had a stroke. I think my head is all right, and I am recovering. Alas I used to be a touch typist and I am now learning to be a two finger typist. At present I am a one finger typist. Call it 1.1 finger, but after today’s therapy , maybe 1.2; I am learning. I just made the Spock sign.
Started a ramble to post, but it is easy with Windows 8 to have what you write vanish. I will keep trying.
Please someone post in my blog that I am here and learning. The Surface works but learning to use it and Outlook 13
after a stroke is hard enough and I am clumsy. But I am trying and think I will recover. But it takes time. But I am coming back.

Dr. Pournelle:
The best of wishes for a speedy and full recovery. Here’s hoping that you have a Happy New Year.
Jerry, best wishes to you. I have always been a two fingered typist. It is amazing how much one can do that way.
Here is hoping you get all ten fingers back soon.
Glad you’re on the mend. Meeting you in the signing row was one of the highlights of my LibertyCon a few years ago. Keep rocking along with the therapy, we’re all pulling for you.
What great news! Fight the good fight, Dr. Pournelle. Thousands are pulling for you.
Jerry hearing that you are on the mend is great news! Reading your 1.1 finger post gave me a good laugh. You are still educating and entertaining your readers. We thank you.
I used to be a touch typist until I got my Ipad. The allure of sitting in my recliner, often with a lap Lab curled up in my lap, motivated me to largely abandon my desk top computer. Now I am a one finger typist. As a result of my sometimes caustic comments, some would refer to me as a middle finger typist. It just takes a bit more time to express yourself without a keyboard.
You are in my prayers, Dr. Pournelle. It’s great to hear you are on your way to a full recovery.
Best news in a while.
Hang in there, Jerry. Keep fighting.
And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thinking of you – “live long and prosper”
Good luck with your recovery!
Dr. Pournelle,
So glad to hear you back up on the net! Praying for a rapid recovery. Even this experience and your amazing insight will teach us how to deal with life better. I’ve learned a lot from you about hearing aids and the role of activity in slowing aging. I expect to learn even more on how to treat and recover from a stroke from you. Thank you for everything!
May God bless you. We are praying for your speedy and complete recovery.

Progress can seem frustratingly slow, but work the therapy, and find ways to measure progress. Seeing how far you’ve come can help a lot, even if it leads to some frustration when you hit a plateau and temporarily slow improvements. I know.
Remember, you aren’t alone, we’re all pulling for you.
You are in my prayers, Dr. Pournelle. Here’s hoping for a full and fast recovery! 🙂
Very pleased to hear you are on the mend.
Good luck.
Get well soon sir. You have miles to go and I know you will complete the journey. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Good news indeed! You’re back and we need you. Your insights provide a nuanced balance missing from today’s media.
